Hi families,

As you may have noticed I have posted the slideshow for October.  Unfortunately, it isn't playing.  I am working on making it compatible.  Check back in a little bit to see if it's up and running.

Book order flyers went home today.  If you're planning on purchasing books, please send order forms in by this Friday.  Remember, if you'd like to pay online visit https://parentpay.scholastic.ca/pay .  If you do pay online, please remember to still send in the order form so that I can order the right books for your child.

Thanks for supporting literacy in our classroom!  :)

Grade 1A is contributing a basket to our school's Easter Basket Auction.  The students chose the theme themselves and wanted a camping basket.  We're asking families to please send in a camping item for our basket.  Please note that all items need to be new and unused.  Some ideas that our students came up with for a camping basket include:

  • ingredients for s'mores
  • flashlight
  • lantern
  • camping chairs
  • cooler
  • bug spray
  • water bottles
  • blankets/speeping bag
  • roasting sticks (metal)
  • etc.

Donations are voluntary and very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi grade 1A families!  This weekend, I was correcting student homework and adding the new words of the week to your childs' notebook and unfortunately left their notebooks at home.  Their notebooks will be sent home tomorrow.  So sorry for this mix-up!  The words of the week this week are:                                                          all                                                          little                                                          his                                                          her

The book orders have finally arrived!  After an unusually long wait for our books, I'm happy to say that a beauiful big box arrived today with your orders!  If your child ordered books from Scholastic, they will be going home with them tomorrow (Friday).  I'm very sorry for the delay.  After speaking with Scholastic it was just a blip and future orders should arrive more promptly.  Book Order flyers going home tomorrow will be due on Thursday, October 22.  Thank you to all families who build their children's libraries through Scholastic Book orders. Because of your support, I am able to purchase books, supplies and furniture for our classroom that all students get to enjoy!    Thank you!

Just a reminder that anyone wishing to place a book order for the month of October, they're due tomorrow.  Also, it's not too late to bring in a picture (from the book flyers) of a book you'd like to see in our classroom.  I put it in our basket and draw for one of the books to go into our classroom library!  Happy Reading!

Hi Families,This week in grade one the students are learning to count by twos!  They've worked very hard to learn that we skip a number and say the next.  It would be a big help if parents could help their child practice counting by 2's to 20 starting at 0.  It doesn't have to take a long time.  Take little pockets of idle time to practice, like waiting at red light or waiting in line to pay for something. Thanks for your help,Mrs. Furlotte, 1A and 1B  =)

Just a reminder that any book orders are due tomorrow, September 18.  Also a reminder that students are encouraged to cut out a picture of their favourite book from the book order and bring it into school.  I will draw for a book that will go into our classroom library.  In this way students will be sure to read the books that they want most during class time.  This is a free initiative and is made possible by your support of classroom book orders!  Thank you!
