Parkwood Heights was recently the recipient of a very generous donation of $33,714.68 from GDF Suez Canada Inc. in support of their new Library Learning Commons Project (LLC)! These funds will be used to purchase new and current books, as well as assist in purchasing new technology for the LLC'S Creation Station Lab. The students and staff would like to extend a sincere thank you to GDF Suez Canada Inc. for its amazing generosity and are proud to announce that the new and improved libary and learning commons area will be named the GDF SUEZ LIBRARY LEARNING COMMONS !
Parkwood Heights Elementary School will be hosting a SCIENCE EAST event for the community and surrounding schools on Thursday, January 29th from 6:00-7:30 pm. Students and their families can come along to witness some cool scientific fun that evening.
Even better, SCIENCE EAST will be following up this evening by spending the next day, Friday, January 30th, just with Parkwood students! How cool is that?!
In January we will be adding a fun I Spy activity for our students to help them get more acquainted with the Parkwood Website and to encourage our families to use the site more regularly. This will be done in conjunction with our Wednesday morning broadcast and will challenge our students to peruse the website for the answer to the Wednesday Website Challenge Question! Students can then click on the Blue Email Box to send their answer directly to Parkwood Pete! Participating students will have their names entered into a draw for a prize to be drawn the following Wednesday.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to our Parkwood families!
Please note that the first day for students in new term is Tuesday, January 6th, 2015. Monday, January 5th is a scheduled Professional Development Day for staff.
Despite having 2 unexpected snow days last week, our Christmas concerts will go ahead as planned, with the K-2 performance being on Tuesday morning in the cafeteria at 9:30 and the 3-5 performance will be on Wednesday of next week, in the cafeteria at 9:30. We hope you are able to attend!
Thursday, December 11th, the Home and School is hosting the Christmas Bazaar. All Parkwood students will be given Parkwood Pete dollars to shop for their family members. We would like to thank our parents and grandparents for sending in yhou gently used items for this event. It is greatly appreciated and we expect your generosity will be rewarded with a special gift under your tree from your child/grandchild!
