A big thank you goes out to the parents and students who participated in the student led conferences last week!  I hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse into your child's day at school.  I also hope you got a better understanding of the strategies your child is learning to use to in both Math and Literacy.
Our class will be visiting the book fair tomorrow at 8:45.  Books usually start at a cost of $6.00.  If you'd like your child to be able to purchase a book(s), please send in their money in an envelope or baggie with their name on it.   Remember, by purchasing books through book fair and book orders, you're directly supporting our school and our classrooms.  Scholastic gives back a percentage of sales to the schools in the way of supplies and books.

In this short video clip Sarah is trying to solve 8 + ___ = 15.  The audio is a little difficult to hear but you can see that Sarah draws a number line and puts the number 8 and then the number 15 on it.  She takes a jump of 2 to get to ten and then she knows that she needs to take a jump of 5 to get to 15.  She adds the 2 and 5 together to get 7.
