Kindergarten and Grade One

Hi Families,This week in grade one the students are learning to count by twos! They've worked very hard to learn that we skip a number and say the next. It would be a big help if parents could help their child practice counting by 2's to 20 starting at 0. It doesn't have to take a long time. Take little pockets of idle time to practice, like waiting at red light or waiting in line to pay for something. Thanks for your help,Mrs. Furlotte, 1A and 1B =)

Naeya and Hailey translated their AAB patterns with actions!

Arianna was busy translating patterns. She was trying to make an AAB pattern but quickly realized something was wrong. As you can see in this video she was quick to identify the problem and fix it. This is part of our outcomes in patterning; correcting pattern errors. Way to go Arianna!

In this short clip you can see that Dakota uses objects to translate a pattern. Translating patterns means that we know ABC ABC is the same as 123 123.

Just a reminder that any book orders are due tomorrow, September 18. Also a reminder that students are encouraged to cut out a picture of their favourite book from the book order and bring it into school. I will draw for a book that will go into our classroom library. In this way students will be sure to read the books that they want most during class time. This is a free initiative and is made possible by your support of classroom book orders! Thank you!
